I started Ibrutinib (standard dose: three 140 mg capsules once a day) on Wednesday, and after only 3 doses, my lymph nodes have shrunk pretty dramatically. I am amazed at how quickly the drug gets to work. I can still feel some enlarged nodes in my groin area and under one arm—hopefully soon they will all be gone!

I have had very minimal side effects. No headaches, thank god, because I already feel like I am prone to them because of sinus issues. Somewhat looser stools, but nowhere near being qualified as diarrhea.

I have also been prescribed Valtrex (500mg once a day) and Allopurinol (3oomg once a day), which surprised me a bit. Dr. Jain said I’ll be on Valtrex for a long time (I’m assuming that means the rest of my life), and the other for a few months while we gear up to add Venetoclax to the clinical trial.

My mom sent me a nail conditioner that I’m using at night. It is a cream that you rub into your nails and cuticles and I am hopeful that it will help stem off all the nail issues that people complain of with Ibrutinib.

So far  I am feeling very grateful for this medicine, and extremely grateful for all the people who developed it, tested it and approved it for use.
